Aerialists over the waves

Catching surfers in the air is as much fun for me as capturing birds in flight. The 1D MIV's competent AF and 10 fps burst rate, coupled with the versatility of the Uniqball UBH45, make this pursuit a bit easier to do.

Surfing while typhoon Ruby passes through central Philippines

Great that typhoon Ruby isn't as destructive as initially feared.  It was actually mostly sunny here in La Union this whole Sunday (December 7, 2014), and surfers were having a field day riding the larger-than-usual waves.

Here's a 5-frame burst from my old, trusty surfing combo. Looks like my 1D4's AF still works well, perhaps almost as good as the 7D2.  Likewise, my Uniqball UBH45 continues to impress me as a viable tripod head for supertele-action photography.
